Cancellation of the Munich Show / Mineral Days Munich

Monday evening, October 19, 2020. Ten days before the start of the Munich Mineral Days, the official press release from the organizer was issued: The Munich Show / Munich Mineral Days have to be cancelled due to the resurgence of the Corona pandemic.
Until recently, this development was unforeseeable. "The conditions were good. Together with Messe München, we developed a comprehensive hygiene concept, and the feedback from exhibitors and visitors was consistently positive," said Christoph Keilmann. However, with the rapidly rising infection rates in Germany and neighboring European countries, the associated stricter measures, and the political appeals to limit contact, a shift in sentiment became apparent at the end of last week. Ticket sales in the online shop, which had been steady until then, collapsed abruptly. "Under these circumstances, the risk for us as trade fair organizers simply became too great. We also want to protect all involved from further costs. Therefore, with a heavy heart, we decided to take this step and cancel the trade fair in a timely manner."

Managing Director Christoph Keilmann and the Gemworld Munich team addressed visitors and dealers on their website:
The current developments of the Corona pandemic have caught up with us just before we reached our goal: With a heavy heart and after considering all the facts, we have decided today to cancel the Munich Show – Mineralientage München 2020.
Until the weekend, we were confident and, as a team, fought to offer you and our exhibitors a functioning trade fair platform. However, the latest figures, as well as the measures announced and promised by politicians, leave little room for this optimism or hope for a reversal of the trend. The appeals to avoid contact and restrict travel are already having an effect: Online ticket sales, which were promising until last week, have come to a standstill in recent days. Regardless of the extensive safety and hygiene measures in place at the trade fair, we therefore expect that many exhibitors and visitors will refrain from traveling or will no longer be able to participate in the Munich Show due to potentially stricter regulations. Under these circumstances, we can no longer justify the risk associated with holding the event.
Canceling the trade fair, which we also wanted to use to send a message of hope, was not an easy decision for us. At the same time, under the current circumstances, it would be irresponsible to delay this decision any longer, especially considering you, our exhibitors, and the participating trades. We would therefore like to sincerely thank you for your support and your intention to attend the fair, and we hope for your understanding regarding the cancellation of Munich Show 2020!
Of course, we will fully refund all tickets already purchased. All ticket holders will be notified by email. For any questions, please contact us at besucherservice@munichshow.com . All approximately 600 registered exhibitors will be informed by email about the handling of stand fees. In addition to a 100% refund of already paid stand invoices, we offer the option of carrying forward deposits to next year and benefiting from a 5% flat discount on the 2021 stand invoice. We would have been delighted to welcome you personally to Munich for one of the few trade fairs taking place this year. We wish you and your family all the best for the coming months and hope to see you again in good health at the Munich Show 2021 from October 22nd to 24th.
