Special agate exhibition at the Urweltmuseum Oberfranken, Bayreuth
The special exhibition "Fascination Agate" will be on display at the Urwelt-Museum (Museum of Prehistory) in Bayreuth, Upper Franconia, from March 10 to September 30, 2022. Visitors will gain surprising insights into the diversity of agates and agate phenomena (e.g., pseudomorphs, plume structures, and biosignatures) among the approximately 1,500 agate specimens on display. A cross-section of an agate nodule reveals a hidden world of images that often evokes vivid associations in the viewer. The exhibition is accompanied by numerous macro and micro photographs, opening up an additional universe of new structures, patterns, and almost psychedelic "explosions of color." The resulting images often resemble abstract or even impressionistic works of art.
